The Collection Or should I say, the not longer Collection

Anyone who is collecting Vintage Guitars have heard the sad stories, about The famous guitars which have been sold in the past for ridicule prices. Even I had this experience.
I remember the beautiful 1962 Sunburst Stratocaster (pict1
Pict2 Pict3). Unfortunately I sold it 13 years ago. I bought the guitar in Belgium at All Music in Vorselaer for 1500 dollar. It came together with a special case for the Belgium market.

Look at the pictures I made during a trip to the Greater Southwest Guitar Show in Dallas in 1992. A excellent Stratocaster 1956 with case for $ 8.000,- Nowadays it is worth almost 10 times more. Fender Esquire 1963 for
$ 3.500,- and what about the 1959 Jazzmaster for $ 1.650,-. Look at the Sunburst 1963 Stratocaster with Case
$ 4.500,-.The 1955 Gibson Les Paul Gold Top for $ 6.000,- is now worth almost $ 50.000,/

I started my collection with a handpainted yellow Mustang 1965,  ( fl.150,-) Daniel Laroi removed the paint and made it natural. As you can see on the picture it looks terrible. This guitar was stolen out of my car in 1980, 8 years later I found it back in a shop in the North of Holland. It still looked the same and I bought it back pure for emotional reasons. Unforttunately it was stolen again after I gave it to someone to repair it.
The Stratocaster 1974 was my second guitar. It was a 1974 sunburst. I decided to change the colour into a Grateful Dead picture. This picture had been used on one of their records a long time ago.  Roy Inca,a famous air brush artist, did a wonderful job and I still have this guitar.

The 1973 Gibson Les Paul Signature was sold a few months after I got it from my father in 1978, The value hasnot been increased like the Strats and Les Pauls.
